Coaching designed for real performance challenges
Performance challenges in equestrian sport rarely come from a lack of ability. More often, they arise when pressure, nerves, or overthinking interfere with decision-making and execution in competition.
My services are designed to support riders in developing the mental skills required to perform consistently - helping training translate into results when it matters most. Coaching is practical, evidence-based, and tailored to the individual rider and their goals.
1:1 Mindset Coaching
One-to-one performance coaching focuses on developing the mental skills that underpin confident, focused riding in training and competition. Sessions are tailored to you as a rider, taking into account your goals, experience, competitive environment, and current challenges.
Coaching commonly supports riders with:
Managing nerves and pressure in competition
Building consistent confidence and self-belief
Improving focus and decision-making
Responding effectively to mistakes
Developing pre-competition and in-round routines
Coaching is skills-based and non-clinical, grounded in sport psychology and adapted specifically for equestrian sport.
Workshops & Clinics
Group workshops and clinics are designed for riding clubs, yards, teams, and organisations seeking to support rider performance and wellbeing in a structured, practical way.
Sessions explore key performance themes such as confidence, pressure, focus, emotional regulation, and performance routines, using equestrian-specific examples and interactive discussion. Workshops can be adapted to suit different age groups, competitive levels, and objectives.
Showjumping Coaching
Showjumping coaching focuses on developing confident, effective riding through structured training and feedback. Where appropriate, performance and mindset work can be integrated into ridden sessions, allowing mental skills to be applied directly in the saddle.
This approach supports riders in understanding how focus, confidence, and decision-making influence performance during training and competition, helping mindset strategies translate into action.

What Sets Us Apart
Equestrian-specific sport psychology
Performance coaching is most effective when it reflects the realities of the sport. All work is grounded in sport psychology and adapted specifically for equestrian environments, where pressure, decision-making, and the horse–rider partnership are central to performance.
This ensures mental skills are relevant, practical, and directly applicable in training and competition.
Evidence-based, practical approach
Coaching is skills-based rather than motivational, focusing on strategies riders can use independently. Sessions draw on established sport psychology principles and translate them into clear, practical tools for managing pressure, focus, confidence, and emotional responses.
The emphasis is always on application - not theory for its own sake.
Integrated understanding of performance
Alongside performance coaching, Pendley Performance remains actively involved in training and competition through showjumping coaching and producing horses. This allows mindset work to be informed by current, real-world equestrian practice.
Where appropriate, performance coaching can be integrated into ridden sessions, supporting the transfer of mental skills directly into the saddle.
